Story starter -

Okay, so this is not exactly a contest, but I wasn't sure where else to put it.  Responses can go in whatever you deem their respective time frames.

While I was skimming for some inspiration in a story prompt flip book (yeah, it's for kids, but the possibilities are so much fun!) I came across this gem:
"I'd rather be anywhere but here," said the mummy as s/he stepped onto the stage.

I'm thinking to try and get myself back in the swing of things by doing about 500 - 1000 words with a different prompt each week, anyone care to join me?

I'd love to; I don't write enough, and this would be great practice!

Though I'm not sure I want to share my writing. :P

Oh, I've been meaning to start an EE prompt meme for the past forever, but keep forgetting. Want to make the prompt challenge EE-themed?

If not, then I'm totally starting an EE prompt meme on the forums, while I'm still thinking about it.

ETA: Meera, what the hell are you talking about? Your Santacarius story was awesome!

Oh, sorry!  I thought it was a given that it was EE themed.  :P

Alright, since it's already after 11 here I'm guessing half the forum is already on Saturday anyway, right?  So post a short scribble by midnight your own time next Saturday night.  These are just for fun, and to get in the writing groove.  If your story doesn't make 500 words, so what?

:)

I like this idea a lot.

[here's the but]

But between Shadow War One & Two and The Art of Stone I'm not sure I could add a third writing voice and keep them all straight.
SW is so different from AoS which is so different from EE... [you get the picture]

I'll participate when I feel up to it!

This sounds like a lot of fun!  I've been kind of toying with the idea of finding a prompt list and applying it to EE, just to get back in the hand of writing, so your idea sounds perfect!  :)
"A stray cat perhaps."
"Adorable, loyal, and lovable?"
"Nosy, curious, and independent."  His eyes crinkled.  "Not something you plan to bring home."
Amaranthe found hope in his light tone.  "But something you appreciate once it's there?"

Figured I'd keep these to one post.  The prompt I'm working on this week is:
"Hide before anyone sees us!" said the mother/father as s/he fell asleep.

Again, I'm only focusing on getting 500-1000 words, no big push.  :)

This week's prompt:

"What on earth is going on here?" said the doctor as the storm moved closer.
