No, she wants a relationship and partnership, not the man thinking she's made of spun glass. This is him being afraid for her, and he won't accept to go any farter with her as long as he is.

I agree wholeheartedly. She's very independent, and one of the things she admired about him was that he never presumed that she couldn't do something; he always let her do things on her own, and was there in case she couldn't. So, she wouldn't appreciate him treating her like she's really delicate, and I think this'll come up in the novella.

Remember!! Chronologically, this is still a week or 10 days post her recovery from near-death / torture. I think a little protectiveness is totally critical at this point.

I do agree that it's been soon enough after her rescue that she's still not back to full strenght yet, but her hovering is already starting to grate on her nerves a bit.

I agree too.  They are both behaving according to their characters.  It will be interesting to see how they progress through this aspect of their relationship and how they resolve it.

I'll be surprised if it comes up already in the novella, but I can see it becoming an issue in Forged in Blood.
Lindsay has already said she'll have to separate them for the alternate view points to work, so I'm thinking that Amaranthe is going to try to send him on a mission and he's not going to like it, she snaps at him, that sort of thing.

Hmm.  We need a Forged in Blood thread.

Oh Oh OH! I would be happy to finish reading the book if I had it.

*bats eyelids sweetly*
"It's her eyes," Sicarius said.
"Yes, maybe so. They're like a doe's. Warm and earnest and..."
"Wholesome."
...
Amaranthe caught Sespian scrutinizing her eyes.
He glanced speculatively at Sicarius, but didn't say anything else.
Under other circumstances, Amaranthe might have laughed at both of them.

Oh, Alex. I know. Sigh. However, it may be overshadowed by the implication with the last line that:

Spoiler
They had a playful pastry fight in the cabin in the first chapter before Yara showed up. I only hope that Meera will be pleased as I am about the frosting.
