I guess our original theory that the letter Sicarius wrote was to Rias.
""Yes" He kissed her on the neck, and the warmth of his lips sent a wave of heat through her." Sicarius and Amaranthe

Mal finally gets to makes Yara's toes curl in a good way

Yes :

1) Rias and tikaya make an appearance. Maybe daughter in two? Seems like the 17 might be referring to her :P

2) So, a new love interrest in the work for Sespian.

3) Am and Sic get separated for at least part of the book. In that time, Sics might come to some realization on his own feelings for her?

4) Definitely toe-curling smooches. Their first time together too!

5) I do wonder if Sespian is still emperor by the end of it, or if they get to implement Books' new governement plan immediately (I don'T think it's realistic to do that, but hey, it's a book)

6) I hope, HOPE no one we know and love dies by the end of it. I'd be heartbroken.

Yeah, I think we'll end up seeing the Starcrest kids, there had better be some smooching/blanket wrestling, Starcrest helping them get some of the military on their side, and I expect Forge to be disbanded/they come to some form of agreement with the team.

How resolved do you guys think everything will be? I, personally, am not a big fan of open endings.

No open endings unless there is already a followup in the work... Else, it needs to satisfyingly tie everything up and doesn't leave too many questions.

If you remember in book 1 Hollowcrest did have a little whine about Sespian wanting to faze out the empire altogether, and I can't see Lindsay writing so much about Books' new government project simply to keep him out of the way. I doubt Sespian will remain as Emperor. And I really think someone will die. In a final showdown with Forge involving alien tech and auto-weapons there have to be some casualties. I reckon it'll be Mal.

I agree with that, but I see Sespian as remaining emperor for at least a few years while they try and reform the government...slowly, maybe? They may try to do gradual changes rather than a big upheaval.

Maybe. But, methinks, why do I care about government when there are AM/SIC SMOOCHES hanging in the balance?  ::)

Sparkle, seriously?  You see Mal dying?  o_O

If anything, Basilard would be the most tragic.  He's the most innocent one involved, and the one with the most to gain by surviving and going home.  That being said, I will be really disappointed if any of them dies.  This isn't that kind of series.  If we were trying to look at this "realistically" we would have already lost someone by now.  Our heroes are Lucky.  Notice that capital L.  :)

I will not defend my idea, I will simply stand by it  ;D
But seriously, if you wrote a friend into a book don't you think it would be funny to kill them off? I think it'd be hilarious, but that's just me.

I see Sespian staying as Emperor or Mal becoming Emperor and books new government working as well.
Sic and Am living happily ever after
Emperor buns the top selling tart
and Books finding a love match.

I will be supremely ticked off if anyone dies in the last book. This is not that kind of series! What does realism have to do with a world that has a character like Sicarius in it?  ;D

As for theories, I think Sespian will remain a key figure in the government, whether he's emperor or president or [pick your title]. I *hope* that Am and Sic will get some serious relationship time in and that Sespian at least comes to terms with his parentage.

I wouldn't mind if Lindsay left a few plot threads dangling so she can keep writing about these characters, but I would like to see the Forge plot wrapped up. Happily.
