Cupidcarius Contest Submission Thread
« on: January 12, 2013, 06:09:22 pm »
Contest Rules

Rule One: There are two categories, Active Romance and Fade to Black, as defined below. All entries must involve sex in some way. Authors get to decide what this means, but literal interpretation is strongly encouraged. This is a smutty fic contest, after all. A winner will be selected from each category.

  • Category 1: Active Romance -- Smut, explicit sexual content. Nothing is hidden, while much is revealed. Would go in the Over 18 forum if posted outside of a contest.
  • Category 2: Fade to Black -- Sexual content is very mild and suggestive. Could be posted in any of the fic forums.

Rule Two: No word limit. Use all the words you need!

Rule Three: Limit of one entry per person per category. This means you can write entries for both categories and submit them.

Rule Four: Entries don't have to be limited to heterosexual couples! If you want to write about Agarik escaping against all odds and meeting the surfer with the talented tongue, please do! Want to write about a scene from Maldynado's past which featured multiple partners? Or Mal seducing a young, handsome airship captain? Do it! Think Retta grooves on the ladies? She might!

Rule Five: Consensual sex only, please! Which means only adult characters, which I will define as ages 18 and up. That should keep us safe in every legal jurisdiction out there.

Rule Six: Please make it clear which category you are entering, so we don't have any underage people "accidentally" reading fics that are appropriate for people who are 18+.

Rule Seven: Deadline is February 14th, 11:59 PM CST, after which point voting will open . . . when I get around to opening the voting thread.

--------

The award for winning? The winner in each category will receive a custom title to use in their signature or under their username to tell the entire forum how awesome they are at this sexy writing thing.

Well, here is the first entry for you, in the fade to black category.

I present to you : Imperial wedding

Post canon, and post Romance and Mayhem

It is dedicated to Meera and Sarah and their love of towels...

P.S. I re-uploaded the story, with some edits that I hadn't seen last night. I apologize to all of those who had already read it.

Just a quick note: if everyone could refrain from commenting on any submissions in this thread that would be great. It's hard to read and vote for your favourite pieces if you have to swim through a mountain of comments first, and we don't want anyone left out.

Please keep everything feedback-related in the other Cupidcarius thread to keep everything streamlined :)

Thanks, and looking forward to reading the rest!

First entry in the 18+ category.

Title: Teachers Pet
Category: 18+
Period: Post Cannon

I didn't go full on with the sex, but enough to be here.

This is a catagory 2; fade to black.

I have read and enjoyed these fanfic stories so much that I felt compelled to contribute.  I am not a writer nor an editor, so be gentle with me :) I hope you enjoy.

This belongs to category 1, no fading to black but no graphic details either. The image goes with the story so you can consider it an illustrated text.

Be gentle. This is the very first time I've ever written fan fiction, the very first time I've ever let anyone read anything I've written in English (other than emails), and to add insult to injury it's also written in my second language. I do apologize for all typos, grammar errors and the likes. I read it through several times and checked when I wasn't sure...

Here's my contribution to Category 2, fade to black.  Pre-canon.  Much to my surprise it turned out to be a sequel to Mirror Dimly from a single POV.  Hopefully I wrote it with enough background so it stands on its own with no need to read the other one first.

I apologize in advance for any punctuation funkiness.  I'm still attempting to figure out just how to properly format internal character monologuing.

Here is my Cat-1 Cupidcarius entry.

That would be the non-F2B category.

It is Chapter 9 of The Practitioner's Gift.

If you don't want to read the first eight chapters, the gist of it is that
Spoiler
Sicarius and Amaranthe were tricked into some sort of Magi's Gift scheme by a practitioner, who obliterated Amaranthe's memory of Sicarius. Sicarius is convinced that she gave up the memory on purpose, and he's pretty pissed. In the previous chapter, Amaranthe got her memory back and had to save Sicarius, in the process being affected by some magicky potion that made her act loopy. He felt obligated to make sure she recovered OK, but he's going to leave. Now.
It's possible we remember the events a little differently.

Here's my Category 1 entry.

It takes place between Dark Currents and Deadly Games.

Enjoy.

At long last, my submission for Cupidcarius 2013! Before I say anything else, I have to thank everybody who read this, my very first bit of truly explicit writing ever, and told me I was not failing, but especially Meera and Moon, because I think they both put up with me the most. And many, many thanks to littleredcoat, who was my porn-writing buddy throughout all this. Thanks, everyone!

Title: Domestic Arrangements
Category: Active Romance!
Length: 9200 words/19 pages (Yes, you read that right. Longest sexy fic ever.)
Summary: Maldynado convinces Evrial of a couple things. Post-canon.

The em-dashes got all weird when I turned this into a PDF and fixing it would take an hour or so. SO, you guys are all just going to have to deal with weird em-dashes.

After much hemming and far too much hawing, I present to you my category 1 Cupidcarius entry.  It's pretty explicit, but just short of full-on sex.  Without further ado, my hopefully up-to-par contribution Lamplight.  And a big thanks to Sarah for the title.  :)
"A stray cat perhaps."
"Adorable, loyal, and lovable?"
"Nosy, curious, and independent."  His eyes crinkled.  "Not something you plan to bring home."
Amaranthe found hope in his light tone.  "But something you appreciate once it's there?"
