On Writing for the Cupidcarius Contest (A Villanelle)
« on: February 12, 2013, 10:46:44 am »
I write fiction to excise images from my head.  I write poetry to purge phrases and couplets.  This started out a couple weeks ago as a phrase that wouldn't go away.  Then the bloody thing absolutely refused to fit into a sestina, it didn't like a limerick, wouldn't work in hakiu, and was too florid for a simple aba or abab format.  So, I dusted off that other 16th century format the Villanelle...only to find Mr. Stabby also had a rhyme rabbit attack in the same form!

I didn't know quite where to post this since its about the contest writing process rather than directly EE poetry.  Mana feel free to move it if you think it fits better elsewhere.

like, zen dude :o
Stress /noun/ : The confusion created when the mind must override the body's basic desire to choke the ever-loving-shit out of someone who desperately deserves it.
