I've only had time to read the preview chapters so far!  I'm dyin' here!  But I'm also glad I'm spoiled.

I was NOT spoiled for Wash's death in Serenity, and neither was anyone else in the movie theater, because it was an advanced screening.  I'll leave the sheer volume of the screams of protest to your imaginations.  Or memories.  :o

Shepherd Book, Books... hrm.  If I ever need an(other) alias, remind me to select one that does NOT fit this theme.

Oh, and the second best phrase in the series (a breath behind "Come to me.")?

"Show me."

"Should we take their clothes?"
"To what end?"
"....Pockets?"

I liked getting a few Sicarius POV flashbacks.  Darkcrest island and his acknowledgment that he almost missed out on having Amaranthe in his life.

I also had to peek at the epilogue for my own spoiler, just enough to prepare myself...

Lindsay said there is, she also said she might post it somewhere but I don't know when or where.

There is...don't know when it'll be posted. It's definitely steamier.

Funny...my review notes during that scene were "I'm a leaf on the wind."

I am SO about to stay up till 4am reading.

(My brother was a fighter pilot when Firefly came out.  He and his fellow pilots were almost all instantly hooked on Firefly, especially since sending Firefly to the troops was a popular Browncoat pastime, and it got quoted by the pilots at apt times.  As in, if you were listening in, you'd hear pilots and/or troops in actual trouble who needed support say, "We're experiencing some local color down here, a grand entrance would not go amiss."  And they'd get their grand entrance... :) )

As much as I hated to see him go, if someone in the team had to die, Books kinda makes sense from a writing perspective... I mean what would have been his future?

Mal and Yara have each other.  Bas gets to work on demolishing the slave trade and reconnecting with his family.  Akstyr gets to study in Kyatt and maybe a Starcrest daughter.  Sespian could either go back into politics (minister of education and the arts or some such) or become Turgonia's first world renowned artist :) and a chance with a Starcrest girl.  Am and Sic have each other, their 'vacation' :) working towards Sic's pardon, relationship with Sespian, Am might get involved in politics herself... etc.

Books, however... Yes he designed the new governmental paradigm, but he probably wouldn't have gotten a spot in politics anywhere, other than perhaps as an adviser.  This way he leaves a legacy and works as a catalyst for his teammates to 'go for their dreams' so to speak.

I think it'd be hilarious if, when everything in Stumps is rebuilt, that Books gets a government building, or library or school or something named after him and has a huge statue out front, and Mal still doesn't have one.   ;D

Oh, Books. I wanted you to marry a sweet young Kyattese girl and have a second shot at a family... And learn to surf, and teach at the Polytechnic. I wished all these things REAL HARD but alas, it was not meant to be.

HAIRCUT!!

Liked that, did you?  :D

I'll admit, around 2 AM last night I cheated and skimmed ahead to find that part. And sighed with contentment and maybe even giggled a little. Sicarius is so sweet and awkward. And maybe a tad bit adorable. "I didn't come for a haircut"? Awwww

I would pay good money for the uncut scene.

Hey, did Amaranthe finally learn not to ask those double questions?
It's possible we remember the events a little differently.
