I'm out of vacation time. So if it's more than a few hours away I wouldn't be able to go.

I'm in!  And I'm dragging along my Sister in Law (who I bought the books for and has been exposed a bit to us when we met up with Cindy last month).  Say Saturday...  5 or 5:30?  Maybe over in Chinatown as that's got lots of places to eat?  Or maybe Hill Country BBQ - walking distance from the festival and LOTS of seating...  (And who doesn't love TX BBQ, really?)

Course, if all you want are drinks, I know a Mexican place with great margaritas and mediocre food...

Wish I could tag along with the cool kids!  I'm in Arlington, so super close, but that weekend is already horribly busy.  I'd love to see Tamora Pierce too, since I dressed up as Alanna for Halloween in 6th grade.

Saturday at 5 or 530 sounds good to me. I'm driving into the city (crazy I know), not sure how bad parking is going to be in general - so I might park at New Carrollton (fyi for out-of-towners - metro has free parking on weekends) and orange line it over to the festivities.

4 ideas for where to eat (links to menus/info):
Elephant & Castle (British/American fare)-- http://www.elephantcastle.com/dc_penn
La Tasca (Spanish/Tapas) -- http://www.latascausa.com/site/locations/washington-dc/
Elisir (Italian) -- http://elisirrestaurant.com/ (a little more expensive, but good italian)
Busboys & Poets (America) -- http://www.busboysandpoets.com/ (if we have a lot of vegans/vegetarians/gluten free friends, this is a good place for you)
There are oodles more choices too....pretty much anything you can want.

Mark Teague is going to be there too. He writes the "How do dinosaurs..." kids series. My sons love them!

Matchbox (Pizza and American cuisine) - http://matchboxchinatown.com/menu
The District of Pi (Pizza and wings, hmm, I sense a theme here) - http://www.pi-dc.com/menus/
Carmines (Family style Italian) - http://www.carminesnyc.com/menus/
District Chophouse (a bit pricey, but great steak and microbrew) - http://www.districtchophouse.com/menus/
And of course, Hill Country BBQ (yummy!) - http://www.hillcountryny.com/menu.dc

NOT in Chinatown, but awesome:

Founding Farmers (fresh, locally grown organic.  Great for gluten free/vegetarians, and everyone else) - http://www.wearefoundingfarmers.com/washington-dc/ff_menus/menu-lunchdinner/

A lot of these places get busy, so we should make reservations, which I can do.  Please let me know where and how many ASAP!

Personally I'm okay with those "fake" fans....  Although the real ones are on here.

Didn't take you quite some time to actually make an account here? :P

Nope.  I've had an account since about 6 weeks after I read the first book.  I just didn't POST for more than a year.

I'm a forum newbie according to my number of posts; luckily I make up for it in my ability to leap in headfirst and pretend I've been here forever.
