anything biological like that (milk is vicious!) teds to kill water life very quickly as it increases the amount of food available to algae in the water. the algae goes craxy, multiplies rapidly and in the meantime uses up all the available oxygen in the water, all the other animals suffocate. With blue green algae in the UK they tend to use barley straw to soak it up.
