Aw, man.  You're not going to make me cry, are you?

Uh....

*snickers*

As an author who recently killed a major character, may I offer a discreet high five? ;)

::discreet high fives::   ;)

I've killed major characters.  Some even before the story started.   ;)

Death lists FTW!  (Yes, I have one. Yes, I check off the names. Huh, that makes me sound like Sicarius. That can't be healthy.)

Someone told me I can't kill off one of my major characters... It would be too traumatizing or something like that.

My response was more tongue-in-cheek.  I won't spoil anything for the folks who haven't read The Final Formula, but there are necromancers, and immortality is a major theme.  Take what you will from that.   ;)

But yeah, unless there's a really good reason for it, bumping off an MC can get you a lot of hate mail.

Kendra is scaring me.  I'm wondering if she cackles as she checks off those names.   :o

There's a difference between a major character and your h/POV character :P

Hush! I haven't written that prequel yet! :p

More seriously, I will be killing the POV character in a story
Amaranthe/Sicarius fangirl, who wonders why she has a fondness for fictional characters that she'd suspects she'd flee if she met 'em in real life.

....Maybe? But before I sound too heartless, I make myself cry writing some of this stuff.  And no, Matt won't die. Everyone else--everyone-- is on the table.  I know some writers have gotten 1-starred for killing major characters. But here's the thing. If the story demands something, sometimes you have to honor that. I'm going to get hate mail, if not in MA4, then for MA5--I'm sure of it. But, there are things I have to do to be true to the story. The key, like Becca said, is to make sure there's a damn good reason. Hopefully I can demonstrate that.

 :o

Just so long as Matt doesn't end up living alone on a desolated planet, like Will Smith in that awful vampire-thing movie.  Or in a mental institution.
Although you're breaking my heart with worry about our best beloveds!

Because you are due with baby any day, and I hate worrying you, your favorite will make it through. That's a promise I mean to keep. :)

And, believe it or not, I'm sappy enough to love bittersweet endings. The final epilogue leaves Matt in a good place. And that's my last spoiler.  :-X  Heh--for twist endings, it's Becca you have to watch out for! I'm still reeling from FF1 and I read it the first time 6 months ago!
