Training Sicarius
« on: May 03, 2012, 06:55:34 am »
So I've been daydreaming about what kind of training Sicarius has had and when it started.  This is the list I've come up with so far...
Gymnastics
Weapons
streatch
endurance
speed
strength
target practice
projectile avoidance

emotional suppression
observation
unstable environment - sudden enemies
arts
history
math
woods (survival)
art of war/strategy
hunting - (desensitizing/stealth)
hunted (hone reflexes)
humanity desensitizing
"Sciences"/"hunter" training
language
indoctorined to obey/military mentality

since he isn't sadistic - has to have some sort of companionship/positive human interactions/praise
and physically probably not till about 3 years old at the earliest

That... is an extensive list. Very thorough indeed. o.O I thought I might chime in with a suggestion or two, but it seems you've covered it all!

Poor Sicarius. :( After seeing all of that, no wonder Amaranthe wants to give him hugs all the time. Could you imagine all that training?! It would seem he barely had time for eating and breathing...

No Curi's Bakery!  Indeed, he was deprived.

I wonder how old he was on his first mission. Is that mentioned somewhere? (I may have missed it)

I don't think his first mission age is ever mentioned but in book 2 he discusses a failed mission when he was 15.  This failed mission is also discussed in Encrypted where we learn about what he was to do on that mission.  Answering more fully might be a spoiler.

He was 17 in Encrypted but encountered Admiral Spearcrest at 15 on the mission that failed and ultimately resulted in Sespian.

I have to wonder who was brave enough to train him, at least after a certain age.  It couldn't have been solely Hollowcrest, but I can't see teenage Sicarius accepting...err....constructive criticism....from many people.

Although I found it utterly adorable that (in the interview) he referred to his old cubby, she put emphasis on how sad his childhood had to have been.  As you said, he had to have physical care and comfort as a baby, but it's likely that one day his whole life changed and anyone who hadn't been bred for it probably wouldn't have been able to deal with the physical or mental consequences.   :'(

Since he was indoctrinated to obey his superiors, I bet no one feared him in training.  Kind of like he doesn't kill the team now even though he could.
